Baggage Acceptance Policy for Dubai International Airport

To ensure a hassle-free travel experience and avoid potential issues during screening or excess charges for carrying Out-of-gauge (OOG) baggage, Dubai International Airport urges travellers to adhere to their baggage guidelines policy. Here are some key guidelines to consider when packing your bags before your trip to Dubai.

Tips to Avoid Out-of-Gauge Baggage

  • Ensure your baggage meets the minimum dimensions of 30 cm x 30 cm x 7.5 cm or 12 in x 12 in x 3 in.
  • The total combined dimensions of your baggage should not exceed 158 cm/62 in or 75 cm/30 in.
  • Your baggage should weigh at least 2 kg/4 lb or more.
  • If carrying fragile items, ensure they have at least one flat surface.
  • Keep in mind that golf bags are considered as Out of Gauge.
  • Note that the maximum size permitted for TVs and flat panel displays is 43 inches.
  • In case your baggage is identified as Out of Gauge, a charge of USD 12 per piece will be applied.

Non-Conveyable Items and Their Packaging: Baggage that is irregular in shape or lacks a flat surface can disrupt the baggage handling system and will be classified as non-conveyable.

Examples of non-conveyable items include bags with loose straps, garment bags, car seats for children, damaged items, items secured by rope, golf bags, electronics, and items in plastic bags.

Ensure non-conveyable items are packed in boxes before check-in. Boxing services are available in the terminal check-in area if needed.

Carry-On Luggage: Familiarize yourself with hand baggage requirements for UAE airports before packing your carry-ons, as they are weighed at the boarding gate.

Baggage Screening: Avoid carrying unsafe items while travelling to prevent their removal during the screening process.

If Dubai Airport Police identifies any item considered unsafe during screening, it will be removed, and you will be notified with a note inside your bag.
